Are you tired of looking the same every time you go out? Wrapped by your insecurity of wearing the carbon copy clothes you’ve worn two days ago instead of chumming around with your friends?
Well, I’m starting up a not-so-new series that will help you think (and be picky) out of the box. Obviously, this is my first blog post under “What I Wore Today” series but definitely not the last you’ll see.
Some people tend to buy clothes out of curiosity. What’s worse is that they think of “Wala na akong isusuot next week *sighs*. Thrifty no more!” and goes directly to their first instict — buy new clothes. It’s either your hobby is to waste money or to waste money. Not a good idea based from my experience. Wise people, take note. You don’t have to spend huge amount of money just to impress. Overloading closet or not, it’s not a wise pick.
Tip 101: Explore your closet (you’ll never know what Narnia world lies inside your closet lol).
Considering denim for today? How about let’s do it double denim? Denim on denim. Sounds great. Well, there are tons of ways to wear a denim on top (We’ll be dealing with a denim shirt worn open for this post). But pairing it with a denim below is one of the few great outfits you could pull off. But one mistake can ruin your whole double-denim outfit.
DENIM SHIRT & JEANS | There are lotta shades of denim. Pursuing double-denim outfit means you have to pair the denim shirt with your jeans. Play with the shades of denim until you get the right one for your skin color. I suggest you keep your denim relatively with the same shade. Though, you can also go with a darker denim for your jeans and lighter for your shirt. Just don’t go too matchy-matchy. Then, keep your overall look simple. Wear a basic color of shirt (I usually go with white or black with it) and you’re good to go.
One thing you need to consider when doing this denim-on-denim outfit is color contrasting. Chinos, Jeans, and Shorts are great when you pair it with your denim shirt. You just have to play with the colors. In chinos, it’s probably the easiest pair of trousers to pair with your shirt. When your denim shirt’s lighter, go for tans. On the other hand, when your denim shirt’s darker, then I suggest you find some darker shades or colorful chinos to pair it up with your shirt. When it comes to jeans, you can have black jeans and darker shade of denim shirt. For the shorts, it’s actually my favorite thing to pair it with my denim shirt, lol. It’s one of my go-to outfits. You can probably mix & match with your denim shirt and shorts in no time!
T-SHIRT | When it comes to the t-shirt, it’s really safe to wear white. So, I’ll be sharing 2 tips. First, you can have your t-shirt longer than your denim shirt just to add details. To be precise, you can wear an oversized shirt like the one in the photo (or atleast oversized siya for me haha). Even if you’re not going to wear double-denim outfit, only by putting a denim shirt on top of an oversized shirt with black jeans or any pants you’ll look great already. Though, I prefer white oversized (or not) tee. But, due to my sense of smell who told me (Yes, my senses speak to me) to wear THIS BLACK T-SHIRT WITH A PERFECT LOVELY SCENT I GOT FROM JEFF ONG….I…JUST….CAN’T…… stop myself from wearing that t-shirt the day before I bought it from him. (Lol guys you shouldn’t let your nose pick for you like I did)
Second, I didn’t tell you to limit yourself to the basics. If you’re not going for a denim-on-denim outfit, and decided to wear a denim shirt without the denim jeans you can wear a simple striped t-shirt and tuck it in. Besides, what you want is to let your double-denim make a statement. So, focus on the the denim shirt and jeans.
ACCESSORIES | Keep it plain! Don’t be inspired with the cowboy outfits and such. Denim hat, denim boots, and more denim accessories is a sure way to let the judge give you a perfect circle of zero. Cross out denim accessories.
So, there you have it. A basic denim-on-denim outfit (denim shirt worn open). Remember: basic t-shirt, striped t-shirt, tuck-in is also good, and no accessories. Hope you could pull off the greatest double-denim trend and tag me on Instagram!
